Tipton St John Church has, for many years now, collected a harvest offering of donations of food and other essential items for the St Petrock’s Homeless Centre in Exeter. This year, boosted by a combined effort with Tipton Primary School, along with additional items from Harpford and Newton Poppleford Churches, we were able to deliver an estate car full of items for their stores last Friday. A small group of children from Tipton Primary School helped with the handover and had a tour of the centre which they will report back on at an assembly this week.
Laura McIvor, Core Services Manager at St Petrocks says: “Thank you so much for all the wonderful harvest donations and for visiting us on Friday. It was a real pleasure to meet the children and see how interested and engaged they were with all that was going on – we’re so grateful for your support. Thank you also for the amazing amount of food you collected on our behalf. I’m amazed you managed to fit so much in to one car! Please pass on our very grateful thanks to the children and church members who contributed for all their generosity. Their kindness will be a HUGE help in enabling us to provide meals for rough-sleepers in the coming months, at a time when our shelves were looking rather bare. Thank you so much.”
